In my opinion, the second episode is better than the first episode in terms of pacing and animation. But I do find the voice acting of Kokoro to be not in par with the rest of the cast. This episode is basically a continuation from the first episode onigiri incident, and finally resolves it.

Kippei wakes up in the morning and is terrified to see a little girl in his bed. He jumps away from his bed and begins to reflect on what happened the day before, finally remembering that the little girl is Yuzuyu, the one that he is supposed to be looking after. He also remembers his promise to make her onigiri, therefore going to the kitchen and asking his mother to teach him how to make onigiris. Meanwhile his sister wakes up and makes fun of him, causing him to be a bit embarrased about it.

Yuzuyu finally wakes up and goes into the kitchen, sees Kippei holding a rather large ball of rice. Kippei’s sister tells Yuzuyu that Kippei’s making bento for her, and Yuzuyu becomes very excited. She goes to brush her teeth, but is too short so she couldn’t reach the sink. Satsuki then helps her by putting a stool right beside the sink so she can step on it. She then inquires whether Kippei has a girlfriend or not, and says that she will marry Kippei.

Kippei and Yuzuyu come out the house late, and they are now late for kindergarten and school. In school the girls wonder whether Kippei’s really that busy, and the teacher seems to be finally giving up on Kippei. Kippei enters the classroom, causing a bit of a chaos, and soon it’s lunch time.

Kippei is seen holding a lot of buns at the cafeteria, and a strange looking girl is seen in this scene. I don’t know if I remembered correctly, but I believe that she becomes a key character in the later chapters of the manga. Kippei then returns to the classroom and sees all the girls’ bentos. He then regrets whether he should’ve made more side dishes for Yuzuyu, since the girls think that with only an onigiri it can’t even be called a bento.

Kippei then looks at Kokoro’s bento and is surprised at how small it is, then grabs her arm, saying that he likes his “babes” with “more meat on their arms”. Kokoro becomes very annoyed, and punches Kippei in the face, but right after that her face shows that she is regretful for having hit him.

Inside the kindergarten, Ken-kun, who sits right beside Yuzuyu comments on how Yuzuyu finally has a packed lunch. Yuzuyu is very happy and proceeds to open it, only discovers that Kippei has made her a huge rice ball, with a few pieces of seaweeds slapped onto it. Ken-kun and the rest of her table mates begin to laugh at her lunch, and Yuzuyu becomes irritated, and actually slaps Ken-kun. Ken-kun begins to cry, causing a chaos inside the classroom.

The teacher enters the classroom and asks the girls to find Kippei for him. The girls eventually push the task to Kokoro. Meanwhile Kippei is lying in the hallway, when girl No.1 from episode 1 came up to him and kissed him. He says that he is “not in the mood”, but both of them saw Kokoro just standing there, watching everything. Kippei chases after Kokoro, but she walks away angrily after telling him that she is not like all the other girls. The mysterious girl is seen again in this scene.

When Kippei arrives at the kindergarten to pick up Yuzuyu, the kindergarten teacher talks to him about what happened at lunch time. She tells him not to worry because it is just a child’s fight, but when he sees her outside, she does not seem like her usual happy self. He offers her his hand to hold, but she just walks away and he has no choice but to follow her out of the kindergarten

On the way home Kippei tries to think of the different ways to bring up this issue, but with out much success. When the traffic light turned green again, Yuzuyu tripped and fell over. Kippei helps her up and asks her if she’s okay, and Yuzuyu begins to cry, telling him that Ken-kun made fun of her onigiri during lunch time. Kippei laughingly says that the onigiri is not that great, but Yuzuyu says that she’s happy, which surprises Kippei.

Kippei tells Yuzuyu not to cry anymore, takes off her hat, and kisses her on the forehead. He promises Yuzuyu that he’ll make her whatever sidedishes that she wants. He then asks her and at first she only says onigiri, but then quickly adds on hamburger as well. She then hugs Kippei, telling him that she loves him.

After the Ending Theme, Kippei suddenly sees his sister running towards him, whacking him on the head. She is very angry at Kippei and says that she told Kippei before not to touch Yuzuyu because she is only five years old. She then leads Yuzuyu away, telling Yuzuyu to call her onee-sama (honorific) while telling Keppei that he will not go inside the house for three days.
Personal Impression
This episode has a faster pace than the first episode. New things are almost happening every single minute and this way it keeps the audience interested. The animation and the art seems a bit smoother than the first episode and even after watching it three times I did not see any significant distortions such as the hands in the first episode. By the way, even after three times of watching it, this episode still keeps me interested, mainly because all the character introductions were finished in the first episode. What bothers me is that creepy girl who is always holding a book. I am quite sure that she has some kind of role in a later episode, just can’t think of it right now. When I think of something I’ll be sure to post it as soon as possible. Posting images, adding captions, and linking them to the larger picture has become a lot faster since now I am more familiar with the process so the reviews would take less time to finish, which is a good thing since then I’ll be able to cover more animes. Tomorrow I will take a break from Aishiteruze Baby, and will post the review for either the first episode of Loveless, Honey & Clover, Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto, or RD Sennou Chosashitsu.
